Digger Dash!
We all enjoyed our all school fun run on Friday!  It was great to see students display school and classroom spirit while running for a great cause.  We thank you for helping us raise money for a new shade structure for our front playground and for cheering us on.  We also thank our many volunteers, the PTO and Suzanne Tennyson for making this honored school tradition possible!

Gold Rush Learns from Experts
Mike Nelson, the meteorologist for Channel 7 News, spoke to second and fifth grade students who are studying cause and effect and formulating predictions in their weather unit.  Through his entertaining presentation, students learned weather related safety practices and how different types of weather were formed.  Gold Rush was even featured on the news that evening.  We thank Mike Nelson for his time and expertise.

Coat Drive
Our student council is collecting gently used coats for a number of charities throughout the month of October and November.  Please feel free to send all coats with your child.

Thank you parents and the PTO for providing teachers with amazing meals during our two evenings of conferences this week!  The tasty treats were greatly appreciated by all.  A special thank you to Angel Zayaz for organizing this event.

Recognize an Outstanding GRE Staff Member
One way that we recognize exceptional staff members is through the District’s Apple Awards.  Parents are able to nominate staff members and one teacher and classified employee is then chosen to represent our school at the District gala in March.  The nomination window closes Sunday, October  Click here for the Apple Awards Nomination page.
