Thanksgiving Feast
It was so nice to see everyone at our Thanksgiving Feast this Wednesday. It was a wonderful time for us to come together as a community. A special thanks to all of our volunteers who helped to make the day a success!

GRE Welcomes a New Report Card
Why the change?
The new report card includes all aspects of the GVC.

What is the GVC?
The GVC is the Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum in Douglas County School District. It specifies what students need to know and be able to do. In DCSD, the GVC has four major components:
World Class Outcomes
The 4C’s
21st Century Skills
Content

The GVC tells each grade level teacher, student and parent the learning that is expected by the end of each school year or course.

What are World Class Outcomes?
World Class Outcomes are broad, higher level targets that require students to create, evaluate, and analyze. They are the overarching goals of each unit.

What are the 4Cs?
The 4Cs are essential for success in today’s world and include critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity. They are woven into instruction so that students are able to practice
essential life skills. Students can build these skills by applying them as they learn regular school
subjects.

What are the 21st Century Skills?
21st century skills including resiliency, problem solving, civic responsibility, financial literacy,
systems thinking, health and wellness are the themes that vary by grade level. The 21st century
skills also allow subject matter to be taught at higher levels. These skills provide multiple
opportunities for students to engage in learning that prepares them to lead and thrive on a world stage.
The GRE progress report is customized by semester for each grade level to include the targeted skills taught in the classroom.

What is content?
The content is the state mandated Colorado Academic Standards and remains the
root of instruction. Content standards contain the knowledge students need to apply
higher level thinking (i.e. World Class Outcomes).

Thank You!
A big thank you from our interim principal, Patti Magby, for making her feel welcome during her first week at GRE. She has met many of you while out at car loop and has enjoyed meeting many of your children as she visits classrooms. She will be assisting Mrs. Bergner and Mrs. Barta during Mrs. Brown's maternity leave. Gold Rush is so glad to have her!
