Music to Our Ears
The Gold Rush choir wowed our school at their final dress rehearsal.  We wish them the best of luck in their performance this evening.  A special thank you to music teacher, Mrs. Petty, for providing students with this opportunity!

video

Students in first and second grade used the drawing pad app in music to depict the mood of different songs from the Nutcracker.  Students were able to express the movement and tone of the music.

Gold Rush Showcases Writing Instruction
Gold Rush teachers shared their writing practices with other teachers in the District.  Visiting educators saw the deep thinking evident in our daily writing instruction.  Teachers were particularly impressed with the quality of our students' writing and our students' ability to use rubrics to revise their own work.

Math Creates Excitement & Complex Reasoning
The excitement was palpable as third grade students worked with classmates to find future cases of a known pattern.  Students were given the predictable pattern below and they were asked to find the 50th case and then the 100th.  Students used a variety of strategies to justify their reasoning. Students' excitement was as impressive as their thinking!

Kindergaten Orientation
We enjoyed meeting our new families at Kindergarten registration Wednesday evening.  If you know any families that were not able to attend please have them contact our Registrar, Anita Rudman, at 303-387-7707.  You can also print the enrollment packet by clicking here.  Completed packets should be returned to the school by December 15.

Applying Math Through Robotics
In addition to being an opportunity for problem solving and collaboration, our STEAM lab allows students to apply mathematics.  Students used coding and robotics, for example, to learn about fractions.  Listen to fifth grader, Jackson Cohrs, explain how his class used coding to determine the different fractional components of a meter.

You are able to view your child's information two ways - a highlight view and a comprehensive view.  The highlights view includes a snapshot of how your child performed on core content standards (reading, writing and math) and how your child met school expectations of Going for the G.O.L.D.  The highlights view also includes general classroom comments and individual student comments.

The comprehensive view includes information on all four elements of the District’s guaranteed and viable curriculum in all subject areas, including social studies, science and specials.  The comprehensive view may also include additional content comments aligned to specific content standards.  You are able to access both views by clicking on the links at the top  right portion of the screen.
