Have a Wonderful Spring Break!

School will resume on April 4

Congratulations!
The third and fourth grade Battle of the Books team won the District Championship on Wednesday! Our team competed against Castle Rock Renaissance and Cougar Run Schools for the title.  We are proud of our students for representing our school and for reading so many amazing books!

Jillian Pickering, a third grader at Gold Rush, won the Air Academy Credit Union art award. Her artwork is part of the Douglas County Art Exhibition that was recently displayed at The Lone Tree Art Center. Congratulations Jillian!

Digital Learners

As a part of their informational writing unit second graders researched a famous American that they thought most influenced our world today.  They documented the individual's accomplishments and described how he/she changed the world.  Students then created digital stories using iPads and the adobe voice application.  You will be able to view students’ work by clicking on QR codes that will be displayed in the second grade hallway in the coming weeks.  We are proud of our students’ great work and we hope that you view their work next time you are in the building.

Students Support a Modern Day Explorer

Fifth grade students reached out to modern day explorer Colin O’Brady when analyzing explorers of today compared to those of the past.  Colin is trying to break a world record by climbing the tallest peak on each continent and visit both the North and South poles.  He is doing this work to raise money to stop childhood obesity.  Learning about Colin’s mission has helped students also explore concepts including perseverance, goal setting and health and wellness.  Students sent their questions to Colin and he responded!  Click here for the video.  Our school supported his efforts on Friday with a work out day fundraiser.  We look forward to continuing to track Colin as he continues to climb!

Shade Structure Update Funded with Digger Dash Dollars

We were excited to use our Digger Dash Dollars to fund a new shade structure for the front playground.  We are currently working with the District to get competitive bids for the structure. Because the project requires us get a soil sample and dig large holes in the playground the structure is scheduled to be installed this summer.  We will continue to provide you with updates as we get closer to the spring.

Safety Reminders
We are asking for your cooperation with traffic flow.  As always the safety of the children is our number one priority.

  • Please follow the law and our signage when entering and exiting the car loop. If not, you may be ticketed.
  • Cars must use the car loop. Cars may not enter the bus loop.
  • If you choose to park, please walk your children through the crosswalk to the front of the school and do not drop them in the parking lot.
  • Please pull forward and do not stop at the lower door during afternoon pick up. Students have been instructed to walk up to the fence and use the crosswalk, and not to enter cars at the lower door area.
  • Do not call or motion for your kids to come to your car other than through the crosswalk which is supervised.
  • Be vigilant and avoid distractions by putting cell phones and other electronic devices away as a one second distraction may cause you to miss seeing a child crossing.
  • Please be respectful to the adults who are monitoring the car loop daily to keep all children safe.
