Kicking Off Our Technology Initiative: A Device for Each Student

We are excited that each student will have access to his/her own technology device this year!  As you recall, primary students will have their own iPad and intermediate students will have either a lap top or a chrome book.  This week all students in grades K-5 learned how to use these tools in a safe, appropriate manner and they showed their spirit while doing it!  Students wore crazy socks as they learned about how they leave lasting digital footprints.  Other important topics included writing an appropriate message and not sharing personal information.  The lessons shared across the grade levels this week will ensure students have a positive, safe experience this year.

District & Town Partner on Guard Rail on Chambers Road
SAC Chair, Bruce Martin, and I met with representatives from the District and the Town of Parker to discuss the expansion of Chambers Road.  The proximity of the road to the top of the playground was a theme shared by parents.  The District and Town were receptive to the needs of our school community and they agreed to partner on a 600 foot guard rail.  The rendering below depicts where the guardrail will sit above the playground.  Gold Rush thanks the SAC, Town of Parker and District for their continued efforts to ensure students' safety.

We are excited that our new shade structure for the front playground was completed this week! The shade structure, concrete and tables were made possible through our school's annual fun run, commonly known as the Digger Dash.  We thank the PTO for organizing the Digger Dash and our students and families for raising the money that made our structure possible.  We are looking forward to formally celebrating the contribution with students at this year's Digger Dash student kick off assembly in early September!

Additional Safety Measures During Drop Off & Pick Up
The school consulted with the Parker Police department regarding drop off and pick up procedures. The police agreed that placing a cone near the main cross walk to block a second car lane would appropriately slow cars down at this critical juncture.  Next week you will see a cone at this location before and after school.  We are also asking all parents to cross with their child at the main cross walk and not walk in between cars in the loop.  As always we appreciate your cooperation!
