Gold Rush Students Out Perform the District & State on PARCC

All students in grades three through five take a state assessment in the spring called the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Career (PARCC), which assesses their achievement in both literacy and math.  Fifth grade students also take the CMAS, or the Colorado Measure of Academic Success, that measures their knowledge of science concepts.  Gold Rush students out performed both the state and district on both assessments.  We attribute our students’ success to our commitment to teaching students to think critically in all content areas.

Integrating Technology

After learning how to be a digital citizen last week, students are now using their devices to enhance their learning.  This week fifth graders collaborated with peers on shared google documents.  Third graders learned how to use a Google extension called Readability to limit text distractions, such as excessive colors and pictures.  Readability helped students monitor their comprehension.  Students in all grade levels have access to online math games and activities from our Investigations program.  We are excited to continue to use our new resources.

Ensuring Student Safety

Ensuring students' safety is our top priority at Gold Rush.  On Wednesday, September 7, the District security team will train our staff on different safety protocols including lock down drills.  After discussing procedures with staff the school will conduct a lock down and the team will help evaluate our practices.  We will use the official lock down call signal, which broadcasts the announcement on our speaker system.  You may hear that Gold Rush is going into a lock down on Wednesday around 10:45AM.  Please know that this is a drill only.
