Primary Performers!
First and second graders preformed songs and dances from around the world Thursday evening.  Also on display was students' incredible artwork.  Students studied global awareness and the impact of different cultures on the arts.  We were proud of students' confidence and creativity!  We thank Mrs. Petty,  Ms. Warner and Ms. Dazzio for preparing students for this event. We look forward to the second performance Thursday, March 9th.

Congratulations Mrs. Holtzer

It is bittersweet to announce that fourth grade teacher Mrs. Holtzer will be retiring at the end of this school year.  Mrs. Holtzer is a well loved member of our school community with over 20 years of experience in education.  We thank Mrs. Holtzer for her wonderful contributions and wish her the best of luck!

Oldest Students Move on to Advanced Robotics
Fifth graders built and coded more advanced robots this week called Lego WeDos.  Unlike robots Dash and Dot,  Lego WeDos require students to create the actual robots using loose legos.  Students had to think critically and problem solve prior to programming.  Students enjoyed seeing science come to life!  It also helped them question, define problems and pursue unique solutions.

Kindergartners Move Marbles
Kindergarten students used the process of inquiry to apply what they learned about force and motion. Students were asked to create a marble mover and demonstrate these science concepts.  Students loved exploring how to move a marble in different ways during Inventors' Time.  They were highly creative and were able to explain how and why their invention worked using the SeeSaw app!

Our second performances from first and second graders were incredible!  Students sang songs and performed dances from around the world on Thursday evening, as a way of sharing what they learned about global awareness.  Through their performance and incredible artwork, students demonstrated the impact of different cultures on the arts.  We thank Mrs. Petty,  Ms. Warner and Ms. Dazzio for preparing students for this event!

5th Grade Students Promote Going For the GOLD!
Fifth graders used the design thinking protocol to create videos that promoted Going for the GOLD. They were charged with finding a way to remind students what it looks like to follow our school character expectations.  Students decided to create a music video for GRE using a song that promotes these values.  The protocol that students used required them to empathize with others.  Fifth graders did this by thinking about what Going for the GOLD means to others in the building.  They then brainstormed ideas and created a protocol, or sample video, that they tested out with students at their grade level.  Check out their music video below!

Students Create Change
Fifth grade students hosted a bake sale during parent teacher conferences for the Barnhart family.  As you recall, the Barnhart family lost their home in a fire.  We are proud to announce that our students raised over $350.00!  We celebrate these students' drive to do a kind act for a family in need.  They are planning on hosting a second bake sale Wednesday, March 15, during our second evening of parent conferences.  All treats are $0.50.
