Celebrating Creativity
Students are expressing creativity through their writing.  Kindergartners are sharing what is special about themselves.  Students in first grade are researching insects and using what they know to create one that would adapt.  Second graders are writing poems about favorite objects, people and events.  After studying fairy tales, third graders are writing their own.  Students in all grade levels are thinking about their word choice and ideas.  They are also thinking about the unique structures and styles of this type of writing.  We have enjoyed reading students' great work!

Kindergarten - All About Me

Who has blue eyes and loves sports? I do!
My name is Evan and I am six years old.
I like toys, food and candy.  I want to be a race car driver.

Rocking Chair
By Brock Dismang

The old rocking chair,
With all of its glory.
Rocking back and forth
Like its trying to think of something he forgot.

GRE Mathematicians Compete Nationally
We had an opportunity to celebrate students who participated in Math Olympiad.  Students who participated in this before school activity competed in national math competitions.  Students put their problem solving strategies to the test as they solved complicated, multi step problems.  In addition to receiving participation awards, several students received patches and pins for competing on a national level.  Fifth grader, Morgan Underwood, was highlighted for scoring in the top two percent!  We thank teachers Mrs. Barta, Ms. Dalceri and Mrs. Anderson for organizing this opportunity for students.

Welcoming Future GRE Kindies
We had the opportunity to welcome our incoming kindergartners Thursday evening.  Students met their teacher, toured the school and learned about their first year.  We cannot wait for our newest members of GRE to start!

Learning From Legend High School
Legend High School students wrote and performed a play titled Colors that highlighted the importance of being a good friend.  Our fifth graders enjoyed seeing former Gold Rush students. They also engaged in a meaningful conversation about bullying and friendship.  We thank our high school students for sharing their talents with us!

School Advisory Committee - Open Positions
We enjoyed seeing new faces at our school advisory committee meeting this week!  As you recall, this committee provides input and ideas regarding our building priorities, budget, safety procedures etc.  We meet once a month for an hour.  We are holding a special meeting on June 1 to elect voting members and roles.  Please know that all parents are welcome to attend all meetings.

Field Day Volunteers Needed
We are looking forward to field day on May 30 (Kindergartners) and May 31st (students in grades 1-5).  We are still looking for parent volunteers to run stations on both days between 8:45-10:30 AM and 10:30 -12:00 PM.  If you are interested and available, please contact Mrs. Warner at

Yearbooks Are Hot Off the Press
Parent volunteer, Reggie Zeece, and art teacher, Mrs. Dazzio, facilitated a yearbook club this year and we are happy to say that our yearbooks are complete!  Students will receive their yearbooks on June 1st.  We will sell remaining yearbooks on a first come first serve basis on Friday morning, June 2 at 8:00AM. Parents must be present. Yearbooks are $20 each and will be sold one per family- checks only.

Parent volunteer Regi Zeece was recognized for her work on the yearbook. She was really
passionate about including kids in decisions and made sure every student was represented.

An Important Notice About Student Fees

Please take a minute to be sure you have paid all of your student fees. You can log on to RevTrak and sign in with your Parent Portal credentials. If you participate in the free and reduced lunch program and show unpaid fees on your account, that means you don’t have a letter on file in the office.
